Jenison High School
Grand Haven High School
Grand Haven choose the right time for a strong defensive showing. The defensive line anchored by Junior Stephanie Thompson and Senior Claire Hibbard along with a strong performance by Senior keeper Jordanne Ellingboe kept the Jenison Wildcats from scoring in tonight’s district semi-final game.
Sidney Thayer got the Bucs on the board first with a goal at the 33:20 mark of the game. The ball was bouncing from player to player in the Wildcat’s 18 yard box until Summer Dewitt took possession and passed it to Sidney Thayer. Sidney easily placed the ball in the net from 15 yards out.
Grand Haven’s second goal of the game came at the 61 minute mark. The Wildcat’s keeper took a goal kick and the Bucs Jennifer Dear won the battle for the ball. She immediately passed it to Alli Keyser who shot the ball, finding the corner of the net away from the Wildcat keeper. This second goal of the game was the dagger goal that sealed the district semi-final win for the Bucs.
