Meet Recap

The Grand Haven Girls Tennis Team beat Caledonia on Wednesday 7-1 at Grand Haven High School moving their record to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the OK Red Conference. The Bucs swept the singles play and won 3 out of the 4 doubles flights. Kathryn Ackerman won her first varsity singles match at #3 while Julia Bachmann, Kelsey Lansky and Felicity Alder all won their matches in straight sets. All four players did a very nice job with staying steady and then moving the ball around when they could.
In doubles play the Madison Ray/Sam Korecki team played very good doubles as well as Hannah Staal/Laura Slocum. I was pleased with the adjustments those teams made during the match.
Overall I think the team came out a bit flat actually as I think they underestimated the team from Caledonia. They have a lot of nice players and coming right after the emotional match with Rockford, the match turned out to be harder than expected. But the team did come away with a victory which in the end is the goal.
The team plays next at West Ottawa on Monday.
