The Grand Haven girls soccer team used an aggressive attack to build a 2-1 lead early on in the second half of Saturday’s road contest with Mona Shores.

However, the Sailors took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity and added the game-winning goal with five minutes left in regulation to take a 3-2 win over the Buccaneers.

Alli Keyser scored two goals to lead the Bucs (1-3-2), while Olivia Buitenhuis added one assist.

Lindsay Vander Meer made five saves in net.

Sarah Mikesell scored two goals to lead the Sailors.

Grand Haven started the scoring off with a goal by Alli Keyser at the 7-minute mark of the first half from the right side of the field. Mona Shores’ Sarah Mikesell tied the game at one with 2:32 left in the first half.

Four and a half minutes into the second half, a through ball from Olivia Buitenhuis to Alli Keyser resulted in another score for the Grand Haven Buccaneers.

A penalty against Grand Haven at the 8-minute mark of the second half led to an own goal, tying the game at 2-2. With 5:12 left in regulation, Mona Shores’ Sarah Mikesell added her second goal of the contest off a long ball from the Sailors’ goalkeeper.
