Meet Recap

The Bucs Tennis Team won their second straight tournament on Saturday at Holland Christian. The Bucs came away with 18 points followed by Petoskey with 15, Holland Christian with 9 and Mona Shores with 6. The flight winners for the Bucs were:

Riley Wilton at #2 Singles
Nathan Sexton at #3 Singles
Chris Akselberg/Weston Taylor at #2 Doubles
Ian Rant/Brayden Rowley at #4 Doubles
Corbin Johnson/Canyon Hayes at #5 Doubles

Also going 2-1 on the day were Noah Bachmann at #1 Singles and Dylan Shenefield/Mason Price at #1 Doubles. The #3 doubles team of John Richardson/Matt Baldus and #4 Singles Matt Bays each won a match for the Bucs too.

Our #2, #4 and #5 played very consistent doubles in winning their flights. #1 doubles made huge comeback in their last match and only fell 2 points short to Petoskey after beating Mona Shores earlier, a team they had lost to on Tuesday. I am very pleased with the steps the doubles teams are taking.

For the singles flights, our #2 player was not available so we moved up Riley and Nathan as well as pulled up Matt Bays for the first time. Still winning 2 of those flights and getting a win from Matt Bays was great.

All of our teams contributed at least one win today. I was very happy for Corbin Johnson, Canyon Hayes and Matt Bays. They have been apart of our program for a long time and getting their first varsity wins was terrific.
